Chin Liposuction in Bangalore
VASER chin liposuction for a stubborn double chin, done awake under local anaesthesia through three tiny hidden entry points. ₹45,000 all-inclusive, performed personally by Plastic Surgeon Dr. Amrika Seshadri (MS, MCh) on Sarjapura Main Road.

How does chin liposuction remove a double chin, and what does it cost in Bangalore?
Chin liposuction removes the stubborn fat under the chin (submental fat) that diet and exercise often can't shift, because it is set by genetics and anatomy. At Dr. Amrika's Aesthetics it is done with VASER ultrasound, which liquefies the fat before gentle suction and leaves vessels, nerves and collagen largely intact, with a moderate skin-tightening effect. It is a daycare procedure under local tumescent anaesthesia, so you are awake and go home the same day, through three 2 to 3 mm entry points under the chin and behind the earlobes. A compression strap is worn for 3 weeks; visible swelling settles in about 20 days and the jawline keeps refining for 3 to 6 months. The removed fat cells do not grow back. Price: ₹45,000 all-inclusive.

Why VASER chin liposuction with Dr. Amrika
Every surgery is conducted personally by Dr. Amrika (MS, MCh Plastic Surgery). Never delegated to assistants or medical generalists.
VASER Ultrasound, Not Brute Force
Traditional liposuction tears fat out mechanically and bruises everything around it. VASER uses ultrasound to turn the fat under the chin into a liquid first, leaving blood vessels, nerves and the skin's collagen fibres largely undisturbed.
No General Anaesthesia
Chin liposuction is done under local tumescent anaesthesia. No breathing tube, no grogginess, and you walk out the same day.
3-Point Sculpting, Ear to Ear
Three tiny entry points (under the chin and behind each earlobe) let the cannula cross the area from several angles, so the jawline is contoured evenly without ridges or pockets.
One Price, All-Inclusive
₹45,000 covers your pre-operative tests and ECG, the procedure, VASER, anaesthesia, the compression garment and every follow-up visit. No separate invoices.
The procedure, step by step
A meticulous, multi-layer surgical protocol prioritizing structural aesthetics, minimal tissue trauma, and hidden incisions.
Screening & Upright Marking
Blood tests (CBC, blood sugar, PT/INR, triple viral markers) and an ECG come first. Dr. Amrika then marks the area while you sit upright, because gravity changes how fat drapes under the chin.
Local Tumescent Anaesthesia
The entry points are numbed with an ultra-fine needle, then a solution of lignocaine and epinephrine in sterile saline is infused into the fat. It numbs the lower face and upper neck and reduces bleeding and bruising.
VASER Liquefaction
Through micro-openings, the VASER probe is moved in a fan-like pattern to liquefy the fat. You may hear a faint humming: that is the sound waves working in the tissue.
3-Point Suction & Compression
Micro-cannulas a few millimetres wide remove the liquefied fat through the three entry points. Each is closed, usually with a single fine dissolvable stitch, and the compression garment is fitted before you leave the procedure room.

Peak Swelling
Swelling and mild bruising peak in the first 72 hours, and the jawline may briefly look fuller than before. This is normal. Anti-swelling measures are used, but no massage should be attempted.
Turning Point
Swelling starts to go down quickly. The skin may feel firm or 'woody', and bruising changes from purple to green and yellow.
Resolution
Most visible swelling resolves as your lymphatic system reabsorbs the fluid, and the new jawline starts to show. The compression strap is worn for the full 3 weeks.
Final Refinement
Residual swelling settles and new collagen matures, so the jawline keeps tightening and refining. Don't expect overnight results; patience is part of the journey.
Why a double chin doesn't go away with diet
Fat under the chin is rarely just a reflection of body weight. Thin, fit people often have it too.
Genetics
Your DNA largely decides where your body stores fat. If your parents carried fullness under the jaw, you are predisposed to the same.
Anatomy
A low or forward-set hyoid bone (a small U-shaped bone in the upper neck) blunts the chin-neck angle and makes even a little fat look like a double chin.
Ageing
Skin loses collagen and elastin, and the platysma muscle across the neck slackens, so the existing fat drops and the sharp jaw angle softens.
Why Exercise Can't Target It
Weight loss shrinks fat cells everywhere but does not reduce their number in a genetically set zone. Removing the cells is what changes the shape.
VASER vs traditional liposuction for the chin
| VASER / Ultrasound-Assisted (Dr. Amrika) | Traditional Liposuction | |
|---|---|---|
| How fat is removed | Ultrasound liquefies fat cells before suction | Mechanical force tears fat cells out |
| Anaesthesia | Local tumescent anaesthesia, awake | Often deep sedation or general anaesthesia |
| Effect on other tissue | Largely spares vessels, nerves and collagen | Disrupts vessels, nerves and connective fibres |
| Skin tightening | Moderate; heat stimulates collagen contraction | Minimal; risk of loose skin |
| Smoothness | 3-point cross-tunnelling for an even contour | Harder to keep even; risk of irregularities |
| Bruising and pain | Less bruising and swelling, mild discomfort | More bruising, swelling and pain |
Frequently asked questions
Straightforward, medically accurate answers directly from Dr. Amrika Seshadri.
How much does chin liposuction cost in Bangalore?+
Chin liposuction at Dr. Amrika's Aesthetics is an all-inclusive package of ₹45,000. It covers pre-operative blood tests and ECG, the daycare facility, VASER technology, the surgeon's fees, local anaesthesia and medication, the medical compression garment, and all follow-up visits. There are no hidden fees.
Am I a good candidate if I have loose skin under my jaw?+
Chin liposuction removes localised fat. VASER gives a moderate skin-tightening effect, but it is not a cure for severe hanging skin (a 'turkey neck'). With good or moderate skin elasticity the skin settles well against the new jawline. With extensive sagging from major weight loss or advanced ageing, Dr. Amrika may recommend combining it with a neck lift.
Will I be asleep during the procedure?+
No. You stay awake, comfortable and relaxed under local tumescent anaesthesia, which blocks pain in the lower face and upper neck. Avoiding general anaesthesia makes the procedure safer and lets you recover at home the same day.
What does it feel like if I am awake?+
The numbing injections feel like a brief pinch, like a dental visit. After that you feel light pressure, movement or gentle tugging as the micro-cannula moves, but no sharp pain, cutting or burning.
How long does chin liposuction take?+
The surgery itself takes 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the amount of fat and your jawline anatomy. Plan for 3 to 4 hours at the clinic in total, including preparation, marking, letting the anaesthetic take effect, and fitting the compression garment.
Will there be visible scars?+
The entry points are only 2 to 3 mm wide, placed in natural shadows: one just under the chin and one under each earlobe. They fade into faint lines over the following months. There is a chance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (darkening) at the sites; if it happens, a medical-grade skin-lightening protocol with hydroquinone-containing medication is customised for you.
Can I work during the 20-day downtime?+
Yes. Without general anaesthesia you will feel well by the next day. Work from home is possible within 24 to 48 hours. If you need to be in an office or meet clients, consider 5 to 7 days off, because the compression garment is worn continuously in the first week and swelling and bruising will be visible.
What if I forget to wear the compression bandage?+
Consistency matters. Leaving it off for long periods in the first three weeks brings the swelling back, slows how the skin adapts to the new contour, and raises the risk of a seroma (fluid collection) or uneven firm areas. If you forget for a short time, put it back on straight away.
When will I see the final result?+
Some reduction is visible right away, and by day 20 most of the swelling has gone. Fine swelling keeps settling and new collagen keeps maturing, so the jawline continues to refine for 3 to 6 months.
Are the results permanent?+
The fat cells removed do not grow back. A thin layer of fat is deliberately left for a natural look, and those cells can still enlarge with major weight gain. Keep your weight stable and the result lasts.
What are the risks of chin liposuction?+
Expected, temporary effects are swelling, bruising, numbness or altered sensation under the chin, and mild firmness while healing. Rare complications include minor asymmetry, a seroma, superficial skin irregularities or a localised infection. Strict sterile protocols keep these risks to a minimum.
