In short

What is blepharoplasty, and how much does eyelid surgery cost in Bangalore?

Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery that removes heavy, hooded upper-lid skin or reduces lower-lid eye bags, so you look rested without looking 'done'. Upper eyelid surgery is a 45 to 60 minute daycare procedure under local anaesthesia, with the incision hidden in your natural crease; it also corrects mechanical drooping from heavy skin and can create a double eyelid crease. Lower lid options range from a scarless incision inside the eyelid for genetic eye bags to complete rejuvenation with fat transfer for mature faces. Stitches come out at 8 to 10 days and most people do desk work within 3 to 4 days. At Dr. Amrika's Aesthetics, all-inclusive packages are ₹42,000 (upper), ₹60,000 (standard lower) and ₹80,000 (complete lower lid rejuvenation).

The Surgical Standard

How Dr. Amrika approaches eyelid surgery

Every surgery is conducted personally by Dr. Amrika (MS, MCh Plastic Surgery). Never delegated to assistants or medical generalists.

01

Subtle, Not Startled

Older eyelid surgery removed too much skin and fat and left hollow, permanently surprised eyes. The aim here is the opposite: friends notice you look rested, without suspecting surgery.

02

Scars Planned for Indian Skin

In South Indian skin types, which are more prone to pigmentation, the upper-lid incision is placed precisely within the natural eyelid crease, so the healing line is tucked out of sight when the eye is open.

03

Treatment Matched to Your Age and Anatomy

Puffy lower lids in your 20s and 30s are usually genetic fat; in mature faces they come with loose skin and cheek volume loss. Each needs a different operation, and the plan is built around which one you have.

04

Awake for Upper Lid Surgery

Upper eyelid surgery is done under local anaesthesia. Being awake lets you open and close your eyes on request, so symmetry can be checked in real time.

Clinical Methodology

Upper and lower eyelid techniques

A meticulous, multi-layer surgical protocol prioritizing structural aesthetics, minimal tissue trauma, and hidden incisions.

Phase 01

Upper Lid Skin Reduction

Thinned-out, hooded skin that weighs on the lashes is removed through an incision inside the natural crease, lifting the weight off the lid. Severe hooding can push the lid down (mechanical ptosis), narrow vision and cause eye strain; this corrects it.

Phase 02

Double Eyelid Creation

For eyelids without a natural crease (monolids), usually with more fat and a low or absent crease attachment, excess fat is debulked and a crisp, permanent crease is built. This clears the lash line and stops lashes turning inward.

Phase 03

Subconjunctival Lower Lid (Scarless)

For younger patients with genetic eye bags and good skin, the incision is made on the inside of the lower lid. The bulging orbital and SOOF fat is reduced or repositioned with no cut on the face.

Phase 04

Pinch Blepharoplasty & Fat Transfer

For crinkly lower-lid skin, a fine strip of excess skin under the lash line is pinched and removed. In mature faces, your own purified fat is micro-injected into the tear trough and upper cheek to smooth the lid-cheek junction.

Post-Operative Trajectory

Recovery timeline & aftercare

Knowing what to expect at every milestone gives you complete peace of mind. Dr. Amrika directly oversees all follow-ups.

Days 1 – 7

Swelling & Bruising

Swelling and some bruising around the eyes, which can track down to the upper cheeks. This is a normal part of healing. Most patients describe a mild, dull ache, easily managed with oral pain relief. Remote or desk work is usually comfortable from day 3 to 4.

Days 8 – 10

Stitch Removal

The ultra-fine external stitches are checked and removed at the clinic. Swelling settles much faster once they are out.

Days 10 – 14

Back to Face-to-Face Work

Bruising fades enough to be concealed by days 7 to 10. No eye makeup on the incision lines for 10 to 14 days.

Week 3 Onward

Exercise & Swimming

Strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and swimming wait until 3 weeks, so blood pressure spikes do not disturb healing.

Patient Safety

Before surgery: the golden rules

The skin around the eyes has a rich blood supply and sits right next to your vision, so these checks are not optional.

Blood Pressure Under Control

Raised blood pressure strains the tiny vessels around the eye and can cause bleeding under the skin or behind the eye. Surgery goes ahead only when your readings are stable on your daily medication.

Blood Sugar Under Control

High sugar slows healing and raises infection risk along the fine suture lines. HbA1c, fasting and post-meal glucose are reviewed before scheduling.

Pre-Operative Tests

Blood counts, clotting profile and kidney and liver markers for everyone; a full pre-anaesthetic check-up, ECG and chest X-ray when general anaesthesia is planned.

Doctor Answers

Frequently asked questions

Straightforward, medically accurate answers directly from Dr. Amrika Seshadri.

How much does blepharoplasty cost in Bangalore?+

At Dr. Amrika's Aesthetics, all-inclusive packages are: upper eyelid blepharoplasty ₹42,000; standard lower eyelid blepharoplasty ₹60,000; complete lower lid rejuvenation with fat transfer ₹80,000. Each covers pre-operative tests, daycare facility, surgeon fees, anaesthesia (including the anaesthesiologist for general anaesthesia), sutures, and follow-up visits with stitch removal.

Will blepharoplasty change the shape or expression of my eyes?+

No. The aim is subtle rejuvenation, not alteration. Only the redundant skin that hides your eyes, or the fat pads that cause bags, are addressed. The tilt of your eyes and your expressions stay your own; you look like a well-rested version of yourself.

How visible are the scars after upper eyelid surgery?+

The incision lies within your natural upper eyelid crease, so it is hidden in the fold when your eyes are open, including in South Indian skin types with a higher tendency to pigment. Over time the line fades from soft pink to a faint, flat tone.

What is double eyelid surgery?+

It is a variant of upper blepharoplasty for eyelids that naturally lack a crease (monolids). Women in their 30s often seek it because tissue relaxation plus the naturally higher fat content makes the lids heavy and can turn the lashes inward. The surgery creates a natural-looking crease, lightens the lid and clears the lash line.

Why do younger people get eye bags?+

In younger people, lower eye bags are almost purely genetic: fat in the SOOF and deep orbital fat pads pushes forward even though the skin is firm. In older people, loose skin, a slackened muscle, forward fat and a hollowing cheek (tear trough) combine to make the bag look worse.

What is a subconjunctival blepharoplasty?+

The incision is made only on the inside of the lower eyelid, through the pink conjunctiva. It suits younger patients with genetic eye bags and good skin elasticity. With no cut on the face, there is no external scar and recovery is quick.

Why combine fat transfer to the cheeks with lower eyelid surgery?+

As the face ages the cheeks lose fat and sink. Removing only the eye bag can leave the area hollow and older-looking. Harvesting your own fat, purifying it and micro-injecting it into the tear trough and upper cheek fills the hollow and gives a smooth lid-to-cheek transition.

I have high blood pressure or diabetes. Can I have eyelid surgery?+

Yes, once they are well controlled. Blood pressure must be stable on your daily medication, because spikes can cause bleeding around the eye. Diabetic patients need optimal sugar control, verified by HbA1c and glucose tests, because high sugar slows healing and raises infection risk.

What tests are needed before blepharoplasty?+

All patients have a standard panel: blood counts, blood sugar, clotting profile and kidney and liver markers. For complete lower lid rejuvenation under general anaesthesia, a pre-anaesthetic check-up with the consultant anaesthesiologist, ECG and chest X-ray is added.

Is eyelid surgery painful?+

You feel no pain during surgery: local anaesthesia for upper and standard lower lids, general anaesthesia for complete lower lid rejuvenation. Afterwards most people describe a mild, dull ache and a feeling of tightness, managed with simple oral pain relievers.

How long does the surgery take?+

Upper or standard lower blepharoplasty takes about 45 to 60 minutes. Complete lower lid rejuvenation with fat transfer takes about 90 to 120 minutes. All are daycare procedures; you go home the same day.

Are the results permanent?+

The structural change is long-lasting. Removed fat does not grow back, though your skin continues to age naturally. Most patients enjoy the result for 10 to 15 years or longer, and always look fresher than they would have without surgery.

What are the risks of eyelid surgery?+

Expected, temporary effects are swelling, bruising, mild dryness or watering, and slight blurring from ointment. Rare complications include wound infection, minor crease asymmetry, temporary difficulty closing the eyes fully due to swelling, or a fluid collection (seroma). Careful pre-operative screening and technique keep these risks low.
